doin teh Provo

Well aight, I’m here in Provo, in the province of Utah, I thought I’d write down what all is going on in life. Lets see, what’s changed, I’ve moved from Hawaii, deciding to do a semester in Provo. Honestly, my main motivation was a) I wanted to try a division I school, and b) I wanted credibility for when I regulate on the dorks who talk down to BYU-Hawaii, I feel like Hawaii is a great school, offering a great education, and the fact that people in Provo or Idaho would dare elevate themselves above Hawaii bothers me. The “oh you’re going back to high school?” or “I had fun at Hawaii, but I came here to get a real education” really rubs me the wrong way, so I thought I’d give it a shot. And so here I am, to be fair I’ve signed up for 18 credits here just like I did in Hawaii, I’m in Poli Sci, Geology, Russian (5 cr), Honors Isaiah, etc. A difficult load in addition to work. My impressions thus far, people are idiots. The only difference I’ve seen thus far is that here they don’t trust you to study on your own, I feel like I’m in high school with the daily homework coming out of almost every class, or the daily quiz making my attendance mandatory. Honestly, if you’d like to test my knowledge, give me a midterm, give me an exam, try me, see if I’m doing my reading, but the 5 point garbage quiz from every class that I gotta keep track of is almost insulting to me, that’s what you have to do with 15 year olds you can’t trust to do their work. Is this college? Seriously, where am I? To be fair, the education is great, the only thing I have a beef with is the fact that I can’t handle my own study habits, they force their “best way” on me. I’m absolutely in love with my Geology class, and my political science professor has an emphasis in eastern europe, which is awesome cause that’s exactly my motivation behind taking it. And my religion classes are both taught very well, Isaiah and Doctrines of the Gospel. So there’s the education side, living up here is also nice, I live in a house off University Pkwy up here, and walk to school. My housemates are great, we have a blast, and the ward is decent. All in all, I’m happy with the decision to come up here, but definitely don’t plan on being here more than a semester. I miss the laid back approach, who’da thunk it grow on me? :)

Anway, there it is, post if you got a question or comment.
